A bit about my approach to therapy
I am an Art Psychotherapist, this means I use art as a medium of expression in therapy. Sometimes we are unable to put our thoughts and feelings to words or don’t know how to express certain things. That's where art can be used as a medium to express these difficult thoughts and feelings. Being good at art is not a requirement for anyone who is engaging in Art therapy. The therapist is trained in a manner to facilitate the art making process. Therapy is a collaborative process, and both the therapist and the client are accountable for this process.
What to expect in my first therapy session?
The therapy space is a safe and confidential space to explore anything that a client wishes to bring in. In the first session, I usually address the motivation to seek help and orient the client to the therapy process. I go over a few areas to help understand the areas of difficulty for the client better. The first session may or may not include art making. The sessions are usually structured based on the needs of the client. The journey looks different for everyone.
